General Rules
- There's no age limit to join this site-- it's for beginners, for the most part. That said, there is a maturity limit. Anyone acting like a spoiled child or being rude and breaking the sacred unspoken roleplay ettiquette will most definitely be given a warning.
- Also, while there is no word count, and I won't call you out on every little typo your post has, I expect everyone to be somewhat semi-literate. Type out your damn words. Capitalize your damn i's. Use correct punctuation. Etc. I'll be strict.
- The c-box is mostly for OOC chats-- however, I allow cracky (or not) IC skits in there as well, so long as it's not the medium for your roleplaying completely and always. Also, c-box chats are not board-canon, and try to keep them tasteful.
- We are operating on a generally PG-16 level board, with exceptions. R-rated threads are acceptable, but must be marked as such in the title and in the beginning of the board, the reason for the rating must be given (gory violence, sensitive issues, mild sexual content, etc... ) Please keep yourselves in good taste. However, I understand that some characters are vulgar-- I encourage you to have your character speak in any manner that fits him/her-- but don't curse excessively OOC, please.
- Now, we're not grade school children, so I'm sure all of us know the 'golden rule.' Let's all be nice to each other. Not so much IC as OOC, of course. If you stick to the golden rule, and the roleplaying rules, however, there should be no problem. If there is a problem, please pm the Admin and I will try to mediate as best as I can.
- You may have as many characters as you can handle under the Activity Rules, but let it be known that you must 'purchase' a second, third, fourth etc character with the money you get from posting with your earlier characters. In other words, if I want to get a second character, first I must labcoat post IC 20 times, and for my third, 20 IC times after that....
Activity Rules
- Activity is the blood of the site! You must post once per week-and-a-half. If not, you will get a notification via PM, and if you don't respond with an excuse or post in the next four days following, your character will be dropped. You're always welcome to come back and retake your character, of course-- I won't hold it against you at all-- and this entire process can be avoided if, when busy, you post a note of absence thread in the Hiatus forum to tell us approximately how long you'll be gone.
- If you can't regularly post in one thread per week and a half, please don't join the site. It makes it difficult for us to always try and track a roleplayer down to scold them for keeping their thread partner waiting.
- You can join as many threads as you'd like, but be realistic about it.
Roleplaying Rules
- Firstly, I'm going to say right now that the app screening process may be vicious, but only 'cause we want our site to be full of good, interesting characters. So try to steer your character away from stereotypes and Mary-Sues, please! At the same time, I wouldn't very much enjoy an emo character with a terribly horribly sad past or a young character with extremely improbable skills. Keep this in mind!
- There is set to be much violence in this roleplay, from crazed barfights to airship battles. But it's very important that you do not auto-hit, or write up in your post that your punch automatically hit your thread partner's gut with such force that he smashed into a table. You may describe the amazing force and speed with which the punch was thrown, but it's ultimately up to the other whether or not and where it hits. If you're required to injure your partner in that very post, ask the other roleplayer OOC if it's okay, and she can either deny or say yes.
- However, unless your profile states that your character is extremely good at fighting because of this and this specifically
- Similarly, it's not okay to kill your thread partner without his express permission and my knowledge. However, it's fine to have NPCs that you can kill. If you have any doubts about something in your thread, ask your thread partner.
- This roleplay is meant to be somewhere between 'realistic' and 'badass.' So, we institute what we like to call the 'Rule of Cool' which basically means that as long as it's not awfully overpowered, extremely unrealistic and doesn't break any rules specified in the World threads, Plot thread and Rules thread, whatever is cool is basically a-ok. IE, a balloon reinforced with steel being able to fly.
- By the way, if your character/your character's affiliation would like to destroy something in the boards ( a hotel, a few buildings, etc ) that's totally fine as long as there's a plot involved and the admins are notified beforehand. Also, there must be a thread about it (presumably very epic )
- If you want to roleplay a certain idea you had but there's no subboard for it (say, a street in Beijing rather than the Forbidden City or the Factory) you can just post under the entire board itself as long as you make the location clear.
- If two players/two groups cannot plot out an end to a certain conflict and would like to figure out which side will win, that can be settled right here, in the Judgement board. Just post a thread with both sides' advantages and a poll can be put up regarding which side should win. Results should be roleplayed out accordingly. (of course, this is optional and should only be done if both sides of the conflict agree to accept the results.)
- Coloring text for character speech is a good idea. Not a rule, just a suggestion.
Sign Up Rules
- When applying for a character, please use the specified profile skeleton, and post in the Applications board when you're finished. Until you're accepted, post nowhere else except the questions board.
- One account per character. It's much less confusing this way. Name your account after your character, ie Isa Finch, Ace Ulbricht, Dieck Roos, Vincent Vanlighet. You won't be able to sign up with a username including a space, so sign up with any name you'd like and after app acceptance, go to your profile and edit your Display Name so it matches your character's.
- If your application is put on pending, then you have two days to improve your app before we judge it again. If you would like to know how you can improve your app, then you can PM an admin to ask.
- To assure the admins you've read the important stuff, please find two secret, hidden words within the Rules post (this) and the main World post. Afterwards, please PM them to this account.
Money Rules
- On TTTS, we have a universal money system. The currency is called Argent (Ar) and your amount of it is listed underneath your name. When you join the roleplay, you start with 0 Ar, and but get 25 Ar for posting a thread in the introductions board. After this, you get 50 Ar for every post, regardless of how long your post is. When roleplaying your character buying food or clothes, no Argent is subtracted. Argent is for buying special items IC and OOC within the Odds & Ends Shop forum.
Transactions : Both IC and OOC, this is where you would sell special things if you are a merchant or an inventor or even an informant-- the transactions and money exchange will be watched and regulated by the Admins to make sure no one's cheated. It's also completely optional. On the OOC hand, if you want to design graphics or do site-related art, perhaps, you can exchange Argent for that if you'd like. Things like that go in this board and can be organized as the user wants (though we can make an example of what we think would look good/efficient if it's requested)
Admin Shop : This is limited to OOC requests for the Admin, some of which you shall pay for with your hard earned Argent /evil laughter For example, for a new board/location it's 1600 Ar, for a new ship slot it's 3000 Ar, and for another character it's 1000 Ar. Members are allowed to group their money to purchase things like this, but requests may be closed at any time (not likely.)
Ling's Shop : An IC board for shopping. Purchases don't need to be roleplayed out. Prices can be argued about. Pirates, Merchants, Rebels and Asians should buy from here. Special guns, privilieges, skills and other weapons can be bought.
Shawn McDoogle's Shop : An IC board for shopping. Purchases don't need to be roleplayed out. Prices can be argued about. Soldiers. Rebels and Adunctio Civilians can buy various goods from here.
Any questions should be asked here!
