Captain Grimes sat in the Broken Barrel. It was a well known place to meet contacts in Porthaven’s infamous black market. Across from him sat Frank’s master Engineer Dalius. “Well look on the bright side,” he said cheerfully knowing that the engineer was somewhat sour. “With all the repairs we have to do the men should come back twice as productive.” The Strombringer was currently stuck in port as the engineers enacted repairs.”I mean how was I supposed to know The Behemoth was touring? And anyway, I think it’s good that we know the enhanced smokescreen works now. Frank briefly turned away a smiled at a nearby serving girl. “Hey honey, be a dear and get me something strong.” The serving girl smiled back nervously and nodded before soon returning to other tables. “So let’s get down to business Dalius, do you think the dealer will show up?”

Dalius frowned beneath his mask. "We should have been more careful, let us check the touring schedules next time we decide to go raiding" He said "I hope the dealer shows up, or else we will have to "find" him"
Dalius sighed inwardly. I should have seen that ship, I could have stopped it! He thought as he clenched his hand into a fist

“Eh… he’s a new contact, the Smokey Man led him to me. You know that the Smokey Man hasn’t led us wrong yet.” Frank and his contacts had made a habit of not giving any information about themselves when dealing with each other. The slave trade wasn’t as big as most people thought and if one man got captured they wanted to make sure the others weren’t taken with him. “You sure you don’t want a beer or something?” Frank asked, seeing that his most trusted crewman was discontented.

"The smokey man has been a good partner in business. The contact is late though so we can only assume" Dalius said as he looked around The Broken Barrel observing the various people in the room. "I good ale right now might calm my nerves" He said as he motioned for a waitress to come over to the table. When the waitress arrived Dalius ordered the Ale and then turned back to Frank. "What are we getting from the new contact, and how many?"

As the waitress took the order for the ale Frank took his boiler maker. He decided that he liked the girl, she had nice brown hair and the serving girl uniform did her figure many favors. He gave the waitress an Aduncito dollar as a tip with the rest of the payment. Frank turned back to his companion,” He’s asking for about fifty and hasn’t set the price. I figure we might jack the price up from the standard if he looks like he’s new to the business.” Frank looked at all the people in the bar, making sure no threats were present. His eyes moved across the dirty, wooden walls and tables. He spotted three men with swords, all sitting at the same table, this made Frank suspicious. Across the room he saw another man with the look of the sailor placing a large amount of money on the bar and whisper to the barkeep. This amn had an anchor tattoo on his arm as big as a rigging rope. Frank checked his side, making sure his pistol was loaded. “Well, it looks like he’s here,” as he had been checking the room he saw a man with a handle bar mustache wearing an earring of red coral in one ear. The red coral earring was the sign of their contact and he looked to be walking towards Frank’s table.

The waitress put the ale on the table and Dalius thanked her. He removed the mouthpiece on his mask and took a sip from the ale. I've had better He thought as he listened to Frank. "We should definitely take advantage of his inexperience. We might be able to hire a few more hands for the ship with the extra money."Dalius said as frank looked behind him. Dalius turned in his chair and saw the contact walking towards the table. "About time" He murmured to himself as he turned back around and made sure all of his weapon's were ready just in case. I hope this deal is good

Frank took a swig from his boiler maker. It was too salty in his opinion but he expected bugs to be in it or something so that was good. He got a better look at the contact, he was a bit too finely dressed for this part of town. He had three big gold rings on his right hand and walked with a commanding gait. His face suggested a life of finery, overly pudgy and too smooth. Frank also noticed that one of the men with a sword and the man with the anchor tattoo made notice of the contact also. As he sat down the contact looked a bit nervous, obviously he was new to the trade, but the next words cemented it. “So gentlemen, I am the Industrious Man. I presume we will carry out our business in a more secure place?” Frank and Dalius knew that the Broken Barrel was a perfectly good place to sort out a deal. As long as the merchandise wasn’t mentioned by name any deal could be brokered here. “Sure, where do you have in mind?By the way I'm the Scoundrel” He didn’t want to mess the deal up. He glanced over to Dalius tacitly saying with his eyes At least twice the normal price. It looked like they would make a very profitable deal with their new contact.

This man is going to be easy to milk for his money Dalius thought with a disguised grin. He immediately recognized the contact to be one of noble birth or business success. I wonder if those men over there are mercs, or they are just tempted to mug him once he leaves. Dalius looked at the men taking notice of the contact and took note of their positions just in case. I think that this table would be sufficient for cover if things went badly. Dalius took another sip of ale and waited for Frank to continue negotiations. I have a history of scaring away clients...

Frank noticed that Dalius had noticed what he noticed. It was good to have a perceptive partner. The Industrious Man continued speaking. “Well yes,” the accent made Frank guess at Italian lineage “I have booked hotel room 54 at the Silver Rose. I think it will be safer to conduct the negotiations there.” The Industrious Man looked around once more, showing his nervousness to most of the patrons of the bar. “Sure, sure,” Frank had only been half paying attention; the men with the swords had been making casual looks at them, always in the same order. They were defiantly planning something. Frank stood up and followed the Industrious Man, “lead on”. The sword men didn’t leave immediately, but Frank was sure they would follow them eventually.

Dalius stood up and finished his ale. He motioned for Frank to leave and walked over to the men with the swords. "Don't think about it" He said as he walked out the door behind frank. If these men attack our contact we will be in big trouble. I think that frank might send me to escort the industrious man if he thinks the treat is great enough, it has happened before. He thought. Dalius continued to walk after frank until they reached their destination. The silver rose, of course that is a classy place for a "Classy" individual He sneered beneath his mask and continued walking.

Frank knew that an attack would cause the contact to call off the deal. He knew this kind of person, very nervous and flighty. At the first sign of trouble he would back off. But Frank didn’t want to waste this opportunity, they could cut the deal so they could cull their stock of slaves and make a great sum of money for every sale, around 3,750 Ardent per head if they sold off the weak ones and doubled the usual price. He stepped out the door, Dalius following him and waited till they passed around a corner. “Oh,” he said “seems I forgot to pay the tab. You two go ahead I’ll catch up with you.” He went back around the corner, leaving Dalius with the Industrial Man. Frank ran into a nearby alley and waited for the men to pass. It shouldn’t take too long he grabbed onto the handle of his prized cutlass and waited.

Dalius frowned beneath his mask. G'luck cap He thought to himself as he went inside and went to room 54. He sighed and put his feet up on the fine satin couch. "We are waiting here until the cap is done paying, he had his eyes on a girl so he might take a while" He lied as he put his hooded head on a soft pillow. Sometimes I wish I had this much money, but what would life be without the thrill of not knowing if you are going to live or die Dalius thought as he took his revolver off his side and got comfortable.
